Director of Project Management

As the Director of Project Management you will be involved in the strategic management of 10-15 simultaneous projects.
In this role you will also be directly responsible for managing 5-8 of those projects where you will lead the team from
concept through delivery and support.
Requirements:
- Experience with iterative and agile software development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Lean)
- Experience managing many simultaneous projects
- Capable of scheduling and tracking project work items, milestones and resource allocation
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
- Accommodating, diplomatic and steadfast
- Excellent English writing ability
- Experience with cost estimating scheduling and time impact evaluations.
- Proven customer interface and presentation skills
- Experience in project management principles, practices, methods, and applications, including strategic planning, department management, and group motivation.
- Responsible for the overall direction and management of projects through designated project managers, ensuring consistency of process across projects, and customer satisfaction with the products.
- Responsible for a group providing prioritizing, resource supply, support and internal consulting to ensure that projects are carried our consistently and successfully.
Key Position Accountabilities:
- Build and manage a high performing project management team
- Working with the Business Analyst, Dev Manager, QA Manager and other Project Managers, plan and allocate individuals to teams for upcoming projects
- Lead the team through the product lifecycle from requirements gathering through estimating and scheduling, development, testing, deployment, maintenance and training - all within schedule and budget parameters
- Determine project budget and allocate it across the groups (Dev, QA, Configuration) holding each group accountable for their allocation with weekly updates to the team and client manager
- Communicate team structure, project roles and project approach to the team
- Track tasks based on an estimate, actual time spent, and time remaining to complete the task; holding team members accountable to tasks and dependencies
- Be able to produce daily metrics on the budget of the project, amount expended, and amount remaining
- Report project status to the project team on a weekly basis, including status of project, milestones/timeline, percent completed, roadblocks, and budget expended
- Manage the scope of bugs and perform bug triage. Pull in resources as needed (Business Analyst, Technical Analyst, etc)
- Create a check list for a release – work with Software Engineers, QA, build engineer, etc
- Determine if project documentation is needed and take responsibility for getting it completed.
- Report project status to the client on a weekly basis, including status of project, milestones, percent completed, roadblocks, and budget expended
- Manage project cost control, estimating, scheduling, document control, project accountability, risk assessment
- Develop department work plans, assign tasks and duties, monitor performance, and conduct performance reviews with staff
- Clarify the role of project management in the organization
- Establish project management policies, guidelines, metrics and templates
- Prioritize projects and/or ensure consistency with company vision
- Provide guidance, mentoring, training and support
- Establish a repository of lessons learned and best practices
